Yaebenishidare
A cultivar of cherry blossom popular since the Edo era (17th-19th century). Different from the popular image of cherry blossom, Yaebenishidare grows layers of vivid red flower petals. The Yaebenishidare is especially famous in the Heian Shrine of Kyoto, which appears in famous Japanese literature, such as Junichiro Tanizaki's "Sasameyuki," as well as Yasunari Kawabata's "Koto."
