In 2007, we successfully launched the Sola Cube brand website. At the same time, we started selling our products. The response to the website surpassed our expectations and we received many long emails just like fan letters from passionate admirers of our products. As I was fascinated by American Sweetgum (Hazel Pine), I think the “beautiful form of plants” also sparked the emotion that touched the hearts and minds of our audience.
What is that feeling when we see the “beautiful form of plants”?
In my view, that is truly the “Sense of Wonder.”
The “Sense of Wonder” is also the title of a book written by Rachel Carson, an American marine biologist. In this book, Rachel Carson shares her beautiful experiences in the woods(forest) and ocean, along with her nephew Roger. She emphasizes the “mystery and the extraordinary power of the natural world that touches the emotions of all individuals.”
Excerpt from the book – Sense of Wonder
A child’s world is fresh and new and beautiful, full of wonder and excitement. It is our misfortune that for most of us that clear-eyed vision, that true instinct for what is beautiful and awe-inspiring, is dimmed and even lost before we reach adulthood.
Excerpt from the book – Sense of Wonder
Once the emotions have been aroused – a sense of the beautiful, the excitement of the new and the unknown, a feeling of sympathy, pity, admiration, or love – then we wish for knowledge about the object of our emotional response.
I came across Carson’s book while I was working on the prototypes for the Sola cube. I realized the Sense of Wonder also initially captivated me when I first encountered the American Sweetgum. As my Sense of Wonder awakened, so did my sense of purpose – a commitment to share this experience with others through Sola cube.
These experiences prompted me to select the theme of conveying the beauty of nature in its own form and establish Usagi no nedoko,
At Usagi no nedoko, our mission is clear.
We are dedicated to conveying the beauty of nature’s formations to all people around the world. Through our endeavors, we aim to provide an inspiring and emotional experience that awakens the innate “sense of wonder” within everyone.
